2018 Trends

Instagram at one-time use to have massive organic reach into the news feeds, most recently that has begun to diminish, similar to what has happened on Facebook business pages. Realistically there is only so much room for Facebook to put posts and ads in a news feed. Facebook reviews over 100,000 variables to determine who and what you’ll see in this feed. Facebook’s goal is to deliver relevant, meaningful stories to you. Facebook purchased Instagram in 2012 for One Billion Dollars!

Instagram is still the fastest growing social media platform, and because of this, it is a little bit like the wild west. Today businesses need to think about advertising their key messages to get their products and services into the RIGHT news feeds on Instagram.

  • Make sure you have an Instagram business account
  • Watch your analytics, when you see a post consumers like put a few dollars behind that post.
  • There are so many new features on Instagram that you’ll need to keep your eyes open for opportunities that suit your business.
  • The news feeds are filling up and you need to think about advertising your key messages.
  • Instagram Stories and Live Video on Instagram MUST be implemented
  • Very similar to Facebook, organic reach will become less and less.
  • Engagement is coming down too
  • Instagram Stories and Instagram LIVE  are proven to be highly engageable – Start using them!
  • In the United States only right now you can shop on Instagram – Shopify!
  • Get prepared on your website to sell your products.
  • Instant purchasing is very exciting for consumers.
  • A New Way to Reach MOBILE Shoppers
  •  Boost sales to over 500 million shoppers on Shopify.

    *****Auto posted Links on Facebook Business Pages have always been a bad choice for content creation and Facebook tells us the consumer does not interact with them because they obviously don’t care. Link clicks are DEAD, and not a good choice for content.

Video in 2018

  • Organic reach is down 1- 6% of the people that like your page will receive your posts
  • Facebook baiting is no longer allowed on Facebook
  • Community-minded, relevant content, adding value to your followers days is what you need to be posting.
  • Only 300 stories or posts get into news feeds – VIDEO is number one.
  • A video is favoured on Facebooks in the news feeds.
  • Auto posted content is DEAD – these are called LINK clicks – The consumer is not interested in them.
  • When there is NO engagement on a Facebook or Instagram post, it is DEAD…
  • No LIKES or Comments means your content is NOT relevant.
  • Video is huge, LIVE streaming is brand new for all social media
  • Eyeballs can be monetized $$$$ and video captures the eyeballs because it is easy!
  • Start doing video, try to think of a series you could produce on Facebook Live
