We often get asked in class what to do to increase the number of followers and the engagement. First, it is important to remember that with big platforms like Facebook, only a small percentage of the content that you will post on your page will be seen in people’s newsfeeds. Followers are not. The little algorithm robots want to see some action on your post, good content, and well a bit of advertising money.
This being said, there are some tips to help with engagement. This in Instagram specific but it could apply to other social media platforms.
You can watch the video below or keep reading:
1- PHOTO QUALITY
Think about lighting, what you can see in the background, objects you could add in the foreground to create debt, only use your best photos. Go for QUALITY instead of QUANTITY.
You can use photo editing software like VSCO, Snapseed, Wordswag…
2- BE CONSISTENT
But don’t go crazy with the filters! Pick a couple of filters you like and stick to them. Be consistent with your brand colours, your type of content and your posting. Commit to 1, 2 ,3, 7 times a week, it doesn’t matter but post consistently.
3- HAVE A PLAN
What do you want your Instagram page to look like? Maybe a photo of lifestyle, another of nature and one of work related content (a listing if you are an agent or in my case a social media tip for example. You can even do a grid with 3 squares in a row and doodle what you want your week to look like. You can also use some auto scheduling tools like LATER.com.
That’s it! Keep it Simple xox 💋 Catherine Aird @catherineaird
