Your Personal Computer

You might be asking yourself what does Emoji mean? You might even say “Yes I recognize these characters”… You may see them when you’re on Facebook or even use them when writing a status update by adding a little love heart or music note to your text?

You would do this by holding down the “Alt” key on your keyboard and then choosing a number on the side keyboard that corresponds to your desired character… example would be the number three is a “Love Heart” ♥♥♥… number 14 or 13 ♫♪♫♪  are music notes… if you have a newer computer the second set of numbers is located to the side of your alphabetical keyboard….

Japanese Characters on Your iPhone

You might have never heard this term before but it is alive and well on your iPhone…. Emoji best described as Japanese picture characters or emotions used in your message… I would like to thank Phyllis Stelting with Park Georgia Realty in Burnaby for today’s blog… she was the first student that sent me a text message using my very favorite Kiss print… which made me think… more people need to know how to do this…

Why would you want to know this?

Some people like to add a little color to their texting or iMessage… me being one of those people… you might notice I add hearts and notes to a lot of my Facebook messages… If you would like to add this feature to your smart phone I am going to walk you through the process…One important note – this feature for your iPhone can also help you to find the correct keyboard for other languages… as you will see when you go through the process when we finish the update a small globe will  appear on your added keyboard:

• Go to Settings on your iPhone
• Scroll down to General
• Scroll down to Keyboard
• Click on “International Keyboards
• Click “Add New Keyboard”

At this point you are going to feel amazed with the Gold Mine you have just found….

• Scroll down to Emoji and click on it… there you go, you’ve done it….
• Now go back to your center screen by clicking the “Home” in the lower middle of your phone
• click on “Messages” (green box with white cloud)
• Now click the little pencil in the box upper right corner to write a new message
• Notice the in the lower left side of the keyboard your little “Globe”
• Now click on it…. I bet you’re smiling ☻☻☻
• To go back to the alphabetical keyboard just click the globe again

Technology is funny, how are we suppose to know these things? My good friend suggested this morning that technology is very much like life full of wonderful surprises that we need to explore to appreciate… Forrest Gump said it was like a box of Chocolates… “You Never Know What You’re Going To Get”
