It feels like a lot of pressure being told you NEED to be shooting video today in order to compete with online marketing… It’s hard enough to find time in your day to post on your business page, let alone having to become a producer, writer, film maker and star in the production as the lead actor!
Video is actually quite new, YouTube was only founded in 2005, however it is becoming extremely popular… with over 13 billion videos watch everyday (April 2017) you can see how the early adopters will have a big advantage over those that continue to hesitate…. A good question to ask yourself is…. Are any of those 13 billion videos mine?
For the purpose of this BLOG we are learning to shoot a Native Video to be uploaded straight to your Facebook Business Page from your smart phone… after you can load your video to your YouTube channel, if you have one. Native video simply means your video was uploaded to Facebook straight from your phone, not a third-party such as YouTube.

First of all it would be really important to actually be an authority on the subject you are going to talk/shoot about. It also is important to believe in your product and yourself.
It is said that once your God-given talents intersect with your true passion, you’ll be unstoppable. Do you LOVE what you’re doing? Who better to tell the world about it then you!
This means your head needs to be in the right space.. Does this make sense?
If you are confident about your products or services, you’re already 1/2 way there. The rest comes down to a few simple tasks..
Write out a storyboard for your video – Introduction – Middle – End – Recap – Call to action
Make sure it is relevant to your products or service
Get out of the box, but don’t throw the box away…
Now practice a few times, get a flow going .
Get all your equipment together. Tripod – Light – Cleaner ….
Now take 5 minutes to breath, get your flow…. sit up straight. (It might help to put a little pillow or rolled towel under the backside of your bum, it’ll help you stay open… a lack of confidence, nervousness or inner doubt, makes us shrink.
Now follow these little steps in the video….
Have all your equipment ready. Such as lights if needed, Tripod, Cleaner & Cloth
Put your phone on Do Not Disturb or Airplane mode
Clean your phone and lens
Go into your camera, turn your phone to video
Hold your phone in a landscape position – This way no black lines will run down either side
Lock Your Screen by holding your finger on the screen, now you can brighten or darken your screen
Now test the sound and lighting
Look into the lens and not at yourself. Maybe put a little star near the lens as a reminder where to look. SMILE
Hold the phone just above your eye line
Now begin shooting, and talk to me not at me… Try to have a rhythm to your voice, don’t speak too fast. You’re going to be AWESOME!!!
Remember the only way you’ll learn is to try, the more you do, the easier and better you’ll get!

Recently Facebook began to change the way many of us accessed our Facebook Business news feed.
We use to access this news feed from our Business Page at the top right and simply click on the Home tab. The page would open on the business news feed and businesses pages that you had liked would feed their posts in there… Seemed easy enough.. However businesses were not using it!
Most business pages never utilized this bonus feature because somehow Facebook dropped the ball on educating us how to monopolize it. Basically this feature was never used because people did not know it even existed.
On the other hand, it also takes time and energy to cross-pollinate with local businesses, community pages & global businesses it it’s not a return of ROI that is immediately realized… not particularly friendly in a an instant gratification world!
However it is FREE!!
It might be important for me to explain what this second news feed is. The business news feed is exactly like your personal profile news feed, you know, the place where you view all the posted content from your friends and family. On occasion you have also liked business pages from your personal profile.
When you created a business page here on Facebook, you created it through your personal profile, only the two pages are not connected.
Once your page was established Facebook gave you a second news feed. This second news feed in most cases is empty because you have not started to build it yet. In order for this news feed to begin showing content, you as a business need to LIKE other business pages as your business.
Facebook has moved the news feed from the “HOME” tab and relocated it under your profile photo and cover Image on your business page.
Now the rest is entirely up to you… How much you use it will be in direct proportion to it’s pay off. Over just a six month period you could establish yourself as a social savvy Facebook Business user.
When you go into your news feed where all these posts are from other pages, you simply be social.. don’t sell, Don’t Spam… Everyone will know who you are and what you do, because your Business Card.. as I’ll call it, goes with your comments and likes.
Your business card is formed from your Cover Image and your Profile Photo or Logo. This business card travels with your comments and LIKES… Although I always say LIKING makes you a number and Commenting sends the full card…So add a Comment more!
Therefore, YOU don’t need to sell. This is Facebookand it is a Social Platform that is best used socially. Every time you like or comment you are keeping your business top of mind.
NOT only do the business page owners or Admins see your name and what you’ve said, BUT everyone that notices that pages post in their own personal news feed will see your card too… It’s almost one step better than attending a Chamber of Commerce event! (Takes a little to understand this, let me know if the Light Bulb goes on)
If you want interaction on your page, make sure you’re reciprocating on businesses that like and comment on your business page. This is where the reference cross-pollination marketing comes from.
Once a week you should look at who is liking and commenting on your content and make an extra effort to visit their pages, encouraging and liking their content.

Social Media is now one more new component to your marketing strategy to drive traffic and maintain loyal client’s. Therefore each year an actual plan needs to be laid out. If you are new to social media and you are reading this – Welcome, your future just became a little brighter.
1. Look at your customer and ask – what social networks are they spending time on?
2. Create a six month implementation of three networks
3. Find a teacher on that network that is supportive, does what they teach and is approachable after the course
4. Spend two – three months absorbing listening and experimenting with your new network
5. Build your audience STRATEGICALLY (I will speak about this at the end)
6. Measure your social influence – ask people how they heard of you – seek feedback about your messaging
7. Now ask yourself in month three – Do I believe this is working for me, and am I comfortable?
8. Introduce the next network and REPEAT…
The Importance of a Solid Strategy
The internet today is a place one could get lost very easily and before you know it hours have flown by. We need to be FOCUSED at all times, you achieve a focused approach when you have a solid business plan. The strategy is constant contact and a social approach. Engagement, two-way conversations… Just LIKE in real life!
What people tend to do is follow friends and businesses that don’t understand the important duties of having a social networking account – on Twitter if someone is dabbling on this network they tweet every few weeks and have very few follower. They have not put the energy and effort into their social media Business Plan. Yes everyone starts at zero – consistent nurturing of each account is essential.
On Facebook we need to look at the same thing, how many people follow the page and is anyone talking about their message. All this information is upfront for you to gauge before you click Follow or LIKE. Why is it so important – Strategy, your time is valuable, you want to cross-pollinate with businesses that can help you, not waste your already limited time. Think of lending someone a helpful hand if you feel this business is an important connection for you…or recommend someone to get them on track.

Look beneath the page Name it will give you “LIKES” and “Talking About” 2% is an average ratio – they need thirty LIKES ♥

You must admit Facebook is a real genius when it comes to marketing in this new millennium, creating communities of people who don’t sell to each other but rather they are constantly adding valuable tips, blogs, pictures, videos and asking you questions… With all this interaction you’ll want to make sure your message is being noticed and read.

It is very important that you harness the power of marketing your Facebook Business Page to continue to generate new followers and a community of LIKE minded people and businesses. Every time someone LIKES your business page it leads to a new opportunity to keep your business top of mind….with every new posting your business name is sent into their news feed.
#1. It is very important when you begin to put your Facebook Business Page together that you remember your personal profile is separate from your Business Page. This means all your friends on your personal profile do not see what you have posted on your Business Page – UNLESS they have gone to your Business Page and clicked the LIKE button.
Invite people to LIKE your Business Page – you can do this by sending out an e-mail notice requesting people to go to your Business Page and make sure you remind them they need to click the LIKE button (add an easy to follow link). http://www.facebook.com/keepitsimplesocialmedia
You can also send a private message through your personal profile to groups of people (add the url link). If you have created lists on your personal profile it is easier to send messages that cater to that group. Example you talk differently to your friends then you do to your clients or business associates.
#2. The next LIKE that needs to be done is you as your Business page needs to go into the search bar and find LIKE minded pages to follow.
You need to click LIKE on those pages so those businesses appear in your news feed – I suggest adding a couple everyday until you have a good stream. Remember you are the only one that sees the postings of these businesses in your news feed. People and businesses that LIKE your page can however view who you have LIKED, as this appears on your profile page on the bottom left side. (Now Facebook is doing more improvements as I write this blog – so it could be one of the many changes they are working on)
When you are considering Liking a business page ask yourself “who are the clients of this company, can they help you in any way. I say this because as you develop these relationships, the people in their news feed will see your comments, and one day they might want to know who you are.
Go ahead and Like pages that are active, not just because they are an old acquaintance. Make sure their page is rich with information, something that actually excites you.
You can LIKE up to 500 pages – You can always unlike pages later that you feel are not appropriate. To unlike a page, click on the page, scroll down to the lower left side, click unlike – Simple
#3. Now the last LIKE is very important and ties your Facebook Business Page marketing efforts together. You need to always be reading in your news feed and LIKING some of what you are reading, you also need to be commenting and asking questions and answering questions. Do Not Sell!
Did you know once you have 25 LIKEs on your Business Page you automatically receive a vanity URL (User Name). This is an excellent strategy for an e-mail campaign. So remember to claim your personal URL once you hit 25 Likes. This URL can never be changed, so make sure you select a name that represents you well. The other important number on Facebook is when you hit 100 LIKEs. At this point your banner that runs across the top of your page (Name) becomes permanent. Make sure you like what is says. The only way to change this is to have people Unlike you….back under 100
If you want to double-check the difference between your user name and your name – click Edit Page – on your left side of the page click on Basic Information Tab, here is where you’ll find how your page name is secured.

All the energy and time we spend on any social media site is solely for driving customers to our business, to bring more bodies through the door or sell our products. In order to do this on social media you need to first nurture your new relationships. What we are doing by Liking and posting everyday is keeping our business top of mind for when your new friends need your service . This is when all your hard work starts to pay off… Those pages and people remember you – then you can sell.
